About the Owners

Melanie and her husband, Terry, are the owners of Sugarfoot. Their youngest daughter Tara, assists her parents in running Sugarfoot. It's truly a family business! Melanie is originally from Jasper, AL which is south of Birmingham. She moved to Tennessee in her youth and has been calling Murfreesboro home every since. Terry is locally born and has deep family roots in Middle Tennessee. Terry worked alongside Melanie's mother at Nissan and she introduced the two of them, and after two years of dating & courtship they decided to make everything official and eloped at the local courthouse, and they've been together 34 years! When it came time to begin their own family there was no question, they wanted to stay close to home.

One day he came home and told Melanie that it was time for them to open a wedding venue; of course, the girls were excited to begin planning. Melanie is all about southern hospitality, and her husband is all about new ideas. Some of his upcoming projects for the venue include a pavilion in the woods and a secondary grooms quarters.

Terry even came up with the name Sugarfoot! Sugarfoot was a Western tv series that aired in the late 50's. When they looked up the definition of Sugarfoot, everything simply fell into place. Sugarfoot is another form for sweetheart. Be it a friend or a romance, a Sugarfoot is a kind hearted soul who is loyal and always reliable no matter the distance of time or space, they always brings warmth and joy into your life.
